Diagnostic criteria for iatrogenic TSE

Definite:

Definite CJD associated with a known risk factor
for iatrogenic disease (see list)

Probable:
Progressive cerebellar syndrome in recipients of (growth) hormones
extracted from human pituitary glands
Probable CJD associated with a known risk factor
for iatrogenic disease (see list)

Risk factors for iatrogenic CJD

Treatment with (growth) hormones extracted from
human pituitary glands, or after dura mater transplantation
Corneal transplantation in cases were the donor was
diagnosed with definite or probable prion disease
Neurosurgical instruments that were previously used in
patients with definite or probable prion disease
